Peak District
The Peak District is home to some of the country’s most spectacular views and it is no wonder that this beautiful area was the UK's first National Park.
Many of the best views are found at the summits of some of the local landmarks such as Thorpe Cloud but thankfully many more are easily accessible along the Gritstone edges such as Curbar or the Roaches.
You can also appreciate the hills and dales by walking or cycling along one of the trails that traverse the Derbyshire countryside.
Great Views
Black Rocks
Black Rocks is located between Cromford and Wirksworth and is easily accessible from the High Peak Trail. The rocks provide panoramic views across the Derwent valley towards Matlock Bath and Riber castle.
Dovedale
Dovedale is one of the most iconic places in the Peak District thanks to the stepping stones that cross the River Dove. For a spectacular view of the White Peak climb the adjacent Thorpe Cloud.
Solomon's Temple
Solomon’s Temple, also known as Grin Low Tower, is a Victorian fortified hill marker on Grin Low Hill near the spa town of Buxton. The spectacular views from the top are not-to-be-missed!
Stanage and Curbar Edge
The gritstone edges stretch for approximately 4 miles and famously featured in 'Pride & Prejudice. They are easily accessible from Curbar Gap and relatively flat. They are extremely popular with rock climbers and walkers for the incredible views over the Dark Peak.
The Roaches
The Roaches is located above Leek and Tittesworth Reservoir and is loved by hikers and climbers alike. The impressively rugged and steep gritstone ridge is home to mythical mermaids and 15 metre natural gritstone clefts.
Thor's Cave
Thor's Cave is a natural cavern with views over the Manifold Valley and the trail 80 metres below. It is located in a steep limestone crag and the entrance arch is 7.5 metres wide and 10 metres high.
